Suggested Itinerary and Things to Do
Hiking and Outdoor
Popular Parks:
1) Fall Creek Falls State Park (Approximately 40 miles, ~1-hour drive):
a. Various trails/difficulties and multiple waterfalls, with Fall Creek Falls being one of the highest in the country. This is probably the most famous park in the state outside of the Smoky Mountains.
2) Savage Gulf State Natural Area (Approximately 30 miles, ~25 minute drive to east entrance):
a. Stone Door (Amazing View/1.9 miles+/4.8 All Trails Rating/Easy Difficulty)
b. Greeter Falls (Waterfalls/1.1 miles)/4.7 All Trails Rating/Moderate Difficulty).
3) Prentice Cooper State Forest (Approximately 18 miles, in Chattanooga, ~35-minute drive):
a. Edward’s Point (Amazing View/3.8 miles long trail/4.7 All Trails Rating/Moderate Difficulty)
b. Snooper’s Rock (Amazing View/5.9 miles/4.6 All Trails Rating/Moderate Difficulty)
Off-the-Beaten Path Gems:
1) North Chickamauga Creek Gorge
a. North Chickamauga CT Section: Barker Camp Road to Cain Creek (13 Minutes from the House/Hidden Waterfalls and Amazing Swimming Holes, although both can suffer from less water in the peak of the summer)(Waterfalls & Swimming/ 3 Miles/Moderate to Difficult/4.6 All Trails Rating).
--There’s a parking and trailhead here, although you can’t see it on Google Maps.

--At about 1.5 miles in you’ll find several swimming holes and a couple of small-to-medium waterfalls. These are to the right after you cross the steel bridge, and you have to climb over/around a few boulders to get there, if you’re adventurous.
b. Strip Mine Falls/Blue Hole (Swimming; Approximately 25 miles, ~40-minute drive)
--You can go to the Blue Hole with a little hiking, or hike up to an abandoned mine, decent views and a sort of cascading waterfall along the way.

2) Cumberland Trail: Possum Creek Trail
a. Closest Trail to the House (10 minutes or so drive)
b. Pretty decent trail that’s moderate difficulty. Has an off-trail waterfall somewhat off-trail that can go dry in the summer but is usually pretty nice.

One of the world’s longest pedestrian bridges, this historic structure offers sweeping river and skyline views, connecting downtown Chattanooga to the vibrant North Shore district. Note that it is scheduled to be closed for renovation in 2025. -
Visit the Hunter Museum of American Art
Perched on an 80-foot bluff overlooking the Tennessee River, the Hunter Museum boasts an impressive collection of American art spanning colonial times to the present.
